Uplifting, inspiring and insightful. These are some of my favourite podcasts featuring wellbeing, self-development and human connection.
It's no secret that I love a good podcast. You'll often see me on my daily dog walks smiling, laughing and crying as I listen along to my favourites with my headphones glued to my ears.
Podcasts have taught me so much. They've been a source of comfort, knowledge, joy and inspiration. But I know how daunting it can be to sift through the thousand of podcasts on the digital shelves in search of the real gems.
So I thought it might be valuable for me to let you know which are my current go-to podcasts as a follow-up to the blog I wrote back in the summer.
1. Feel Better Live More
with Dr Rangan Chatterjee
A superb weekly podcast that covers a wide variety of topics including the health and wellness spectrum laced with scientific research, human stories of connection and adversity, that are applicable to all walks of life.
Episodes can be over two hours but don’t let this deter you!
Recommended episode: #91 If This Man Can Turn His Life Around, So Can You with John McAvoy. Now an endurance athlete and author, John McAvoy served 10 years in some of UK’s highest security prisons for armed robbery. His story is truly inspirational and worth every minute of your time!
2. How To Fail
with Elizabeth Day
A really wonderful, positive podcast about what each new guest has learnt from three of their life ‘failures’.
Elizabeth has a wonderfully warm interview style that really puts her guests at ease. It feels like listening in on a conversation between friends.
Every episode is a gorgeous mix of insight, reflection, humour and the resilience of that each of us are capable of. Well worth a listen!
My favourite episodes: Lemm Sissay; Shirley Kemp; Nigel Slater; Mabel

3. Dolly Parton's America
with Jad Abumrad
I really don't count myself as a particular fan of Dolly Parton, but I utterly loved each one of the nine episodes in this podcast series.
Beautifully produced, the podcast offers an intimate insight into the legend that is Dolly Parton and the impact she had on America.
It's about more than Dolly though as it investigates the changing face of America through the years, and features multifaceted storyline with the 'Dolly effect' rippling through them.
Even if you're not a Dolly Parton fan, I urge you to listen and sing your heart out!
4. This Conscious Life
with Emine & Paul Rushton
This, my loves, is like a balm for your body, mind and soul.
If you crave a slower, richer way of life steeped in the beauty of nature, and interwoven with Emine and Paul's knowledge of holistic health, herbs, Ayurveda and wellbeing then you'll relish spending some precious time dwelling here.
Whenever I listen, it feels as though my whole body exhales. Informative, gentle medicine for our busy overstretched minds.
5. Happy Place
with Fearne Cotton
Honest, heartfelt, inspiring and uplifting. Fearne interviews a wide range of guests from all walks of life and has candid conversations with them about their wellbeing and personal experiences.
Each episode is generally under an hour, which is the perfect length for a walk or daily commute.
Fearne has a universal appeal and there'll definitely be episodes that resonate with you! I'm excited to see how Fearne continues to grow in the field of mental health and wellbeing. She really has found her niche and and is a delight to listen to and learn from.
