A PRACTICE FROM ME TO YOU WITH LOVE...

As a heartfelt thank you for your continued presence and commitment to practicing alongside me, I wanted to share a practice that we explored a while ago — one that still feels deeply aligned with where I am today, and with the transformative power of how our practice on the mat can ripple into the way we live off the mat.
This offering is rooted in awe, wonder, and enchantment — a reminder of the extraordinary within the ordinary.
So often, we are quick to notice the things that leave us feeling powerless in heavy, painful ways: the devastating news from around the world, the state of our Earth, the cost of living pressures… the list, sadly, could go on.
But, but, my loves.... without turning away from or bypassing any of this — what if we could also flip the idea of powerlessness on its head?
If we are powerless over sorrow and uncertainty, then surely, we are just as powerless over the things that fill us with delight, make us giddy, smile, soften our hearts and lengthen our exhale ...
So how about we allow ourselves to focus on these glimmers and shards of light as a way to balance out our poor highly wired nervous systems, exhausted and overwhelmed by the stresses and strains of modern day living.
As with any practice, the more we lean into noticing, the more natural it becomes. This is no different. We open up our eyes and senses and begin to pay attention, really close attention to the activities, the people, the sights, sounds and textures that bring us ease/joy/awe. It isn’t about trying harder. It’s simply about allowing.
For me..I am completely powerless over the way the smell of lilac makes me smile and triggers happy memories of when I was pregnant with my girls. I am totally powerless over the way Olive my border terrier makes me feel all warm and fuzzy when she snuggles up on the sofa next to me....I am powerless over that first glorious sip of coffee in the morning. The way every sense and nerve in my body tingles with life as I swim in the early morning light ~ especially when the sun hits the water and I am swimming into that light....
Your glimmers will be your own. But they will be there — sometimes subtle, sometimes brilliant — waiting for you to notice. And when you do, others will surely follow.
May this practice inspire you.
May it invite you to rub the sleep from your eyes and pay tender attention to the folds and details of your everyday life.
The things that bring you awe and ease aren’t a choice — they simply are. The only choice is whether you slow down enough to notice and savour them.
I hope that you enjoy it my love and if you feel it would resonate with any of your loved ones or friends, then please do feel free to share it.
If you would like to practice along to music, you can find the soundtrack here
Wishing you a lovely Easter bank holiday and I look forward to seeing you on the mat soon
With love
