EMBODYING THE ESSENCE OF OILS [SERIES]

Join me for a five-week online series and explore the subtle yet powerful effects of my favourite essential oils on body, mind and heart. Each week, we'll dive into one of my five go-to essential oils and explore their unique effects and benefits weaving in the following elements:
- Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
- energetic, therapeutic properties
Each oil forms the inspiration and intention for each practice, and allows us to tune into the energetic, physical and emotional effect of the oil in relation to breath and movement.
The five oils I have chosen are diverse in their properties and qualities and are oils that I use all the time (you'll probably find some of them in your bathroom cabinet!). If you decide to invest in one or a couple, I promise you will get joy, clarity, calmness and balance out of every drop! A little goes a very long way. I always buy my oils from Neals Yard and/or Oshadi.
Please note that you don’t need access to the oils to take part and enjoy the practice — they are simply a backdrop to explore the energetic properties of each oil through the medium of yoga. Each practice will be fully rounded regardless of whether you choose to use the essential oil to complement the class or not.

VETIVER ~ Centre & Descend
Vetiver assists us in remaining grounded, and brings us individual back into focus. It encourages us to looking inwards, guiding us towards the root of our emotional issues on the journey to our centre. It strengthens self-trust and allows us to flow and move through life with greater ease so that we feel rooted but free and spacious at the same time.

LAVENDER ~ The Oil of Communication & Transformation
Lavender encourages emotional honesty and offers us the courage to share our innermost desires, thoughts and feelings with others. It is a calming oil that soothes turbulent emotions and clears the mind, easing it of mental exhaustion, stress and anxiety. Lavender is believed to be a universal oil that travels to the site in the body that is in need of its healing and cleansing properties.

GERANIUM ~ The Oil of Restorative Balance, Love & Trust
Geranium elicits a sense of wholeness, peace and balance through body and mind. It is a gentle oil that quietens the logical mind in favour of the nurturing energy of the heart. Geranium instills unconditional love and supports personal transformation. It balances the chaos of our thoughts and encourages stillness and rest. It balancing properties are particularly beneficial in supporting the female hormonal cycle.

SPEARMINT ~ The Oil of Confident Speech Spearmint inspires clarity of thought and confident verbal expression. It helps us access our inner light then gives us the tenacity to communicate it effectively into the external world. Softer than peppermint, spearmint is gently energising and refreshing and encourages focused attention.

FRANKINCENSE ~ The Wise One
Frankincense invites us to embrace empathy and kindness, and to meet life with compassion and tolerance. Often used in meditative practices, it quietens and centres the mind, resulting in clarity of consciousness and a deeper understanding of ourselves. Frankincense also has respiratory benefits and encourages deeper breathing that has a grounding effect.
Classes are all live-streamed online every Tuesday evening and you'll also receive a recording that you can access for 5 days in case you can't attend live. Feel free to drop in for individual sessions (£7) or sign up to the series in full (£30).
